About Aaron Levie: Co-founder and CEO of Box

Aaron Winsor Levie (born December 27, 1984, in Boulder, Colorado) is an American entrepreneur, the co-founder and CEO of the enterprise cloud company Box. The youngest of three children, he moved with his family at ten to Mercer Island, Washington, near Seattle; his parents, Ben and Karyn Levie, worked as a chemical engineer at a paper company and as a speech-language pathologist. He attended Mercer Island High School, initially wanted to be a film director and was rejected by film school, and went to the University of Southern California with an undeclared major, dropping out in his junior year in 2005 to start Box. In college he interned at Miramax and Paramount Pictures. The idea for Box began as a 2004 college business project examining cloud storage options for businesses. After contacting several organizations about how they stored content and data, Levie concluded the market was fragmented and saw an opportunity to build an online file storage business that let individuals access and store documents and files. In December 2005, in his junior year at USC, he took a leave of absence to launch Box, originally box.net. Sources: English Wikipedia (Aaron Levie, accessed September 2026).
