About Adam Savage: American Maker, TV Host & YouTuber
Adam Savage was born in New York City and grew up in North Tarrytown (now Sleepy Hollow), New York, the son of an animator father who worked on Sesame Street and The Electric Company and a psychotherapist mother. He built a career as a special-effects and props fabricator, with model work appearing in films including Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and The Matrix Reloaded, before becoming co-host, alongside Jamie Hyneman, of Discovery Channel's MythBusters, the science-entertainment series that ran for 14 years and made him a household name for testing myths and popular beliefs through experimentation. In 2010 he launched Tested, a website and YouTube channel where he shares builds, museum visits, and behind-the-scenes looks at how films and shows are made; he now serves as its editor-in-chief. He has hosted Science Channel's Savage Builds since 2019, and published the book Every Tool's a Hammer in 2019, drawing on his career to write about creativity and craftsmanship.
