About Drew Houston: Co-founder and CEO of Dropbox

Andrew W. "Drew" Houston (born March 4, 1983, in Acton, Massachusetts) is an American Internet entrepreneur best known as the co-founder and CEO of Dropbox, an online backup and storage service. According to Forbes his net worth is about $2 billion. He held 24.4% of the voting power in Dropbox before the company filed for its IPO in February 2018, and has sat on the board of Meta Platforms since February 2020, replacing Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, who left in May 2019. Houston attended Acton-Boxborough Regional High School and graduated with a computer science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and met Arash Ferdowsi, later Dropbox's co-founder and CTO. During college he also co-founded an SAT prep company. He and Ferdowsi co-founded Dropbox in 2007, and Houston is CEO and roughly 25% owner. In May 2026 it was announced that he will step down as CEO to become executive chairman, serving as co-CEO with Ashraf Alkarmi for a period before transitioning. In 2008 Business Week named Houston one of the "most promising players aged 30 and under", and Dropbox has been touted as Y Combinator's most successful investment to date. Inc. named him among the top 30 entrepreneurs under 30, and in 2013 MIT invited him to speak at its commencement. He lives in Austin, Texas.
