About Guy Fieri: Restaurateur and Food Network Star

Guy Ramsay Fieri (born Guy Ramsay Ferry on January 22, 1968, in Columbus, Ohio) is an American restaurateur, author and television presenter. He co-owned three now-defunct restaurants in California, licenses his name to restaurants in cities all over the world, and is known for hosting various Food Network series. In 2010 The New York Times reported that Fieri had become the "face of the network", bringing an "element of rowdy, mass-market culture to American food television", with prime-time shows that attract more male viewers than any others on the channel. Fieri grew up in Ferndale, in rural Humboldt County, California, the son of Penelope Anne Price and Lewis James Ferry. While attending Ferndale High School he was a foreign exchange student in Chantilly, France, where he developed his interest in food and cooking. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a Bachelor of Science in hotel management in 1990. His association with food began in grade school, when at ten he sold pretzels from his "Awesome Pretzel" bicycle cart, which he and his father built, and washed dishes to finance his trip to France. After returning he worked at the restaurant at the Red Lion Inn in Eureka, California, until he went to UNLV. Sources: English Wikipedia (Guy Fieri, accessed September 2026).
