About Jamie Dimon: Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase
James "Jamie" Dimon (born March 13, 1956, in New York City) is an American banker and manager who has been chief executive officer of JPMorgan Chase since 2005 and its chairman since 2006. He grew up in Jackson Heights, Queens, one of three sons of Theodore and Themis Dimon, both of Greek ancestry; his paternal grandfather was a Greek immigrant who had worked as a banker in Smyrna and Athens and changed the family name from Papademetriou to Dimon. Dimon has an older brother, Peter, and a fraternal twin, Ted, and both his father and grandfather were stockbrokers at Shearson. He attended the Browning School and graduated from Tufts University in 1978 with a degree in economics and psychology. He began as a management consultant in Boston and, after graduating from Harvard Business School in 1982, joined American Express under the mentorship of Sandy Weill. In 1986, at 30, he became chief financial officer of Commercial Credit and later its president. From 1990 to 1998 he was chief operating officer of both the insurer Travelers and the brokerage Smith Barney, and in 1998 became president of Citigroup. In 2000 he was appointed CEO of Bank One, running it until its merger with JPMorgan Chase in 2004; he then became JPMorgan's COO and, in 2005, CEO. Dimon served on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in the late 2010s, and Time included him in its lists of the world's 100 most influential people in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2011. As of December 2025 Forbes estimated his net worth at $3 billion. Sources: English Wikipedia (Jamie Dimon, accessed September 2026).
