About Jerry Yang: Co-founder of Yahoo!
Jerry Chih-Yuan Yang (born Yang Chih-Yuan on November 6, 1968, in Taipei, Taiwan) is a Taiwanese-born American billionaire computer programmer, internet entrepreneur and venture capitalist, the co-founder and former CEO of Yahoo! Inc. and founding partner of AME Cloud Ventures. As of May 2025 he has a net worth of $3.1 billion. Yang's mother was a professor of English and drama, and his father died when he was two; he has a younger brother, Chih-Kong Ken Yang. In 1978 his mother moved the family to San Jose, California, where his grandmother and extended family looked after the boys while his mother taught English to other immigrants. He took the American name Jerry, says he knew only one English word, "shoe", on arrival, and became fluent in about three years. He attended Ruskin Elementary School, Sierramont Middle and Piedmont Hills High School, then earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in electrical engineering from Stanford in four years. He met David Filo at Stanford in 1989, and in 1992 the two went to Japan for a six-month exchange program. Sources: English Wikipedia (Jerry Yang, accessed September 2026).
