About John Green: American Author & YouTuber

John Green was born in Indianapolis and raised in Orlando before attending boarding school near Birmingham, Alabama and graduating from Kenyon College with a double major in English and religious studies. He spent six months as a student chaplain at a children's hospital before reconsidering his path, moving to Chicago to work at Booklist magazine while writing his first novel. That debut, Looking for Alaska (2005), won the Michael L. Printz Award, and his 2012 novel The Fault in Our Stars became one of the best-selling books of all time, with his books collectively selling more than 50 million copies worldwide. On January 1, 2007, John and his brother Hank launched the Vlogbrothers YouTube channel, alternating daily video letters that grew into the Nerdfighteria community and the annual Project for Awesome charity telethon; the brothers went on to co-create VidCon and the educational series Crash Course. Green has become a prominent advocate against tuberculosis, visiting treatment facilities including one in Sierra Leone, and published the book Everything Is Tuberculosis on the disease and global health inequity. His novel Turtles All the Way Down was adapted into a feature film, and his next novel, Hollywood, Ending, is set for release in September 2026.
