About Taaruk Raina

Taaruk Raina has been singing since he was six. Nobody formally taught him, so he learned off YouTube — a detail that explains a lot about how the rest of it went. He grew up on an unlikely mix of rock, rap, heavy metal and ghazals, sang in his school choir, and once he had enough of a repertoire, started taking gigs at bars and weddings. In 2015 he took the other route into the industry entirely and worked as Aditya Chopra's assistant at Yash Raj Films on Befikre. Then theatre, including the lead in an Indian adaptation of Disney's Aladdin, which required him to act and sing the famous numbers in front of a live audience — arguably the best possible training for what came next. In February 2020 he played Pawan in MX Player's relationship drama Pawan & Pooja. That November, Netflix released Mismatched, and he became Anmol Malhotra — the part he is still best known for. What makes it unusual is that he did not just act in it: he composed two of the show's songs, 'Main Chala' in the first season and 'Kho Gaye' in the second. Not many people are in the cast and the credits of the soundtrack at once. 2022 was busy. He was Anuj Saxena in ZEE5's The Broken News, Lucky Kohli in Prime Video's Jugaadistan, Sunny in Rangeen, and Vinayak Sharma — Rishi Kapoor's son — in Sharmaji Namkeen. In January 2023 he put out his first independent single, 'Narazi', and followed it with 'Kaise Banu' and 'Kalleyan' with Akasa Singh, then 'Lost and Found' and 'Majboor' in 2024. That May he also voiced Rahul in Audible's Desi Down Under, alongside Adarsh Gourav and Prajakta Koli. In March 2025 he did something different again: advocate Kantilal Sahni in Ram Madhvani's The Waking of a Nation on SonyLIV, a historical drama about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Danish Renzu's musical drama Songs of Paradise cast him as Rumi, and Operation Safed Sagar follows in 2026. The audience is deliberately modest by influencer standards — 411,000 followers on Instagram across 1,148 posts, and about 10,100 subscribers on the YouTube channel where he releases his own music. His Instagram bio is four words long and does the job: 'Happy thoughts, sad songs.' Note: no reliably sourced date of birth is available for Raina — English Wikipedia lists his year of birth as missing — so that field is left blank here rather than filled from unverified sources.
