About Vlad Tenev: Co-founder and CEO of Robinhood

Vladimir Tenev (born February 13, 1987, in Varna, Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian-American entrepreneur, most notably the co-founder, chairman and CEO of Robinhood, a US-based financial technology services company. He moved to the United States from his native Bulgaria at five. After studying mathematics at Stanford and UCLA and earning a master's degree, he partnered with Baiju Bhatt to create several fintech startups, one of which, Robinhood, became a publicly traded multibillion-dollar company. Tenev was born in Varna; as a toddler his parents migrated to the US, leaving him with his grandparents until he joined them at five. Both his parents worked for the World Bank and were frugal, influenced by financial instability in Bulgaria. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Fairfax County, Virginia, and earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics at Stanford, where he met Baiju Bhatt and belonged to a fraternity. In 2008 he earned a master's degree in mathematics from UCLA. Sources: English Wikipedia (Vlad Tenev, accessed September 2026).
